Comic Cover of the Week

Happy New Comic Book Day! As always, there are tons of good books in stores today. Some of my recommendations are East of West #3 and Spawn #232 from Image Comics as well as Suicide Risk #2 from BOOM! Studios. I also found out Larfleeze will have an ongoing series starting this month. I have no interest in that book, but find it funny enough to mention this once. And never again.

Let's welcome back Mark Brooks as he graces Fearless Defenders #5 with another fantastic cover. He knows how to hit our multiple interests. First it was a cover resembling action figure packaging, now it's video game time.

As I've said before, I'm a fan of Brooks' art. I've also been a gamer for most of my life. Here, Brooks shows off some of Marvel's greatest women in a character selection screen reminiscent of Street Fighter. The fighters represented here are Valkyrie, sporting some new duds, and She-Hulk, in her Marvel NOW! FF costume. While I really don't care for the new FF costumes, I like She-Hulk enough, so it's okay. We are talking Mark Brooks here, people. I'm sure he can make anyone look good.

Quick side note: there are actually quite a few video game related covers this week. I say keep them coming. Long live comics and video games. Now go out and buy some books.

Comic Cover of the Week

Happy New Comic Book Day! There are so many good books on shelves today. My most anticipated comics are Ghost #4, Mind the Gap #8, Spawn #229, Thor: God of Thunder #6 and Uncanny X-Men #3.

Those books all offer some great visuals. The same goes for the cover of Fearless Defenders #2 by Mark Brooks.

Brooks is no stranger to my Comic Cover of the Week. You know what you're going to get with his name attached. Misty Knight, Moonstar and Valkyrie all look great of course. The big draw for me is the action figure look. I'm sure any action figure collector can appreciate this. The design looks just like a figure from the Marvel Universe line, of which I am a huge fan. I would buy Marvel Universe figures of all three characters. There actually is a Valkyrie figure coming, so keep an eye out for her.

Thanks for looking. Happy reading to you. And happy collecting as well.

Cover of the Week

I hope you enjoyed my Book of the Week post. Here's some more comic book goodness for you. I could say there are plenty of good looking books on shelves today, but that rings true every week.

Here is Mark Brooks' variant cover for AvX: Consequences #4.

Here are the aspects of this cover that won me over:

1. It's drawn by Mark Brooks

2. It's Magneto

3. It's Magneto drawn by Mark Brooks!

No, that last one is not cheating. This cover has a lot going for it. I love how Mags' eyes are lit up. There's all kinds of stuff going on around him. He's ready to do some damage and I want to be there for it. We all know Mark Brooks is pretty awesome. He did two covers this week and I was torn at first about which to choose. I almost posted both, but I had to pick one.

Let me know what you think. Thanks for looking.

Cover of the Week

Happy New Comic Day! It seems like just last week I was doing this. Oh yeah, that's because I was. Well then, welcome back funny book lovers. I've got a nice list of books releasing this week. This might be close to an average week for me. Two of those books are actually getting dropped. Green Lantern and Walking Dead must go. GL just isn't fun and after only a few issues I'd rather go back to trade-waiting Walking Dead.

Moving on to Cover of the Week we have an AvX tie-in. Fighting it out and coming out the winner for the week is X-Men Legacy #266. We're going green people. Check it out.

Brought to you by Mark Brooks, we have She-Hulk taking on Rogue. There's a lot of power right here. Should be a fun showdown. In this issue, some Avengers come to secure the school. The X-Men there aren't having that. I'm actually looking forward to this book hoping that it'll remove the bad taste from the previous issues. Not that they were horrible, but I really wasn't feeling them so much.

Love it? Hate it? Let me know. Thanks for looking people. Happy reading.
